Departure from Castel San Pietro, with a dirt track that runs along the “bric” of the surrounding hills overlooking the Vercelli plain in the Po Park and of Orba with stunning views of Mount Rosa. Return predominantly off-road through hills planted with vines.
Distance: 20 km
Maximum height: 337 mt
Starting from the reception turn left onto the asphalted road following the signs for Rocca delle Donne. We recommend not to turn immediately to the left to shorten the route as you would be travelling along a one-way road in the opposite direction, missing the spectacular views over the Alps and the surrounding plain. Therefore follow the only road that goes around the small village until the signs “Fiume Po” and “Cantavenna”.
A fun and not difficult downhill starts for 1.4km; at the information totem of the Po and Orba River Park, turn left uphill onto a dirt road for 2 km and then onto an asphalted road for 750 m.
Turning to the right you reach the piazza di Cantavenna, keep right and turn onto the street after the grocery store next to the Church to see the panorama of the plains and of the alpine arch.
Returning to the piazza, continue on your route by leaving with the Cantina Sociale to the right and the grocery store on the left.
Remain on the asphalted road going uphill to a hairpin turn to the left, where we leave and continue straight in the direction of Pozzengo for about 3.4 km until arriving in front of the church of Santa Maria del Carmine, typical for the altar in the window.
Continue for 80 m, turn left taking the dirt road down to the bottom of the valley. At the first dirt road intersection turn right and after about 400m, keeping to the left, continue uphill until reaching an asphalted road turning to the right. At Ilengo go over the crossroads and continue along a dirt road for 1.5 km.
Turning right onto the asphalt you reach Zenevreto; at the intersection on the other side of the road on the right you notice a small ramp. Take it and continue uphill on the dirt road to Bric del Lupo.
PAY ATTENTION on the narrow path to the two landslides on the right and to other downhill bikers. When you reach the top, go right downhill to the asphalt and turn left. From here, continue for 1.3 km. until you find an intersection. Then turn left and after about 400 m turn right uphill following the indication for Castel San Pietro.
Continue for about 1.5 km to the starting point.
We do not ensure the viability of the route, we recommend the use of the route with the accompaniment of one of our expert guides.
